About the BBW Committee

Bedfordshire BusinessWomen is a not profit organisation and run by its members. The President is supported each year by a Committee and between them they ensure the smooth running of the network, whilst adhering to all legal and financial guidelines. The core Committee roles and committee members are voted for at each Annual General Meeting which takes places prior to the final meeting of the Presidential year. Members are proposed and seconded, and this action is formally minuted. General members can join the committee at any point throughout the year, and the constitution allows for changes to be made to all roles should the need arise.

Roles can be flexible to accommodate split responsibilities when required.

The Committee is currently made up of the following mix of paid and non-paid roles:

Non-Paid roles

President – the figurehead and leader of the organisation for the year they are in post. Ultimately responsible for the organisation during that year.

Vice-President – Should be a solid support to the President, whilst preparing for the following year.

Raffle Coordinator – responsible for the effective and efficient running of all raffles during meetings.

Minute Taker – Supports the committee by taking notes/minutes/actions at each meeting and circulating promptly.

General Committee Member – Attends committee meetings and carries out a variety of support roles to contribute to the ongoing effectiveness of the organisation.

Paid roles

Four roles on the Committee currently attract a token remuneration of £100 per month. These roles are considered by the existing Committee as consuming a considerable amount of time per month and also requiring some element of expertise in order to ensure they are operated competently:
