About

Befordshire BusinessWomen - Networking Excellence since 1988Bedfordshire BusinessWomen was founded in 1988. We believe we are unique as a not-for-profit networking organisation for women who live and/or work in Bedfordshire. Now established for 30 years, we are the longest running networking group in the county and have won Best Networking Group in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016 at the regional FSB awards. We do not operate a “lock-out” system and welcome everyone. Members of the same or similar profession often use the opportunity to get to know each other, often leading to collaboration and even the creation of new businesses or income streams. We are friendly, approachable, professional and, most important of all, we help our Members grow their businesses.

Membership

We are always looking at our membership fees and structure to make sure we are meeting the needs of members. We are a not-for-profit organisation and work hard to keep our costs low so that our membership fees can be as value for money as possible. Our membership fees for 2017 are as follows:

Core Membership

  • Annual membership fee – £85, payable up front when you join or on the anniversary of the membership –  it’s a rolling membership.
  • Monthly meeting fee of £15 per month on a direct debit basis regardless of whether you attend or not.
  • Core membership is an annual commitment so you are able to “Send a Friend” if you can’t attend.
  • Annual payment in advance for membership and meeting fees attracts a 10% discount.

Ad-hoc Membership

  • Annual membership fee – £85, payable up front when you join or on the anniversary of the membership –  it’s a rolling membership.
  • Adhoc members will pay £20 for any meeting they book on to.

Further details about each membership are available on our Membership page.

Our Meetings

We hold our monthly networking events on every third Thursday of the month. This year we will be visiting 12 different venues as part of our plan to widen our accessibility and build our links with the Bedfordshire community. A full list of dates and venues can be found on our networking calendar.

Current event themes include a Christmas lunch, International Women’s Day, Summer Event and the Bedfordshire Businesswomen Awards.

Events are organised by our Committee of volunteer members. We welcome your ideas, thoughts, suggestions and input at any time. If you have an idea for an event, be it an educational workshop, sporting challenge or social fun, please contact any of the committee – we’d love to help make it happen!

Annual Charity

Every year money raised by the group is donated to the President’s choice of charity. This year’s chosen charity is the Bedfordshire & Northamptonshire MS Therapy Centre.  This charity provides a centre of excellence providing professional specialist therapies and support for people with Multiple Sclerosis in a self-help environment that inspires and empowers.

Fundraising opportunities include our monthly raffle, athletic and personal challenges. We also have stands at some events that businesses can book to raise the profile of the business – the payment for these stands also goes to the charity.
